The first part of this question reminds me vaguely of the people I used to chastise on Facebook for filling in the “Favorite Book” section with the following: ”Books? Your [sic] crazy. Who reads?”
I digress. Yes, I do read. I really enjoy reading and always have. My first and second years of law school really prohibited outside reading, but the third year allows for much more non-law-school-related reading.
As for your second question — I read a lot of news during the day. I get the Wall Street Journal delivered to my house because they have a great student discount. I also read my local paper on the Kindle before I go to sleep. I usually don’t make it all the way through.
As for more fun stuff — I just finished “Kitchen Confidential” by Anthony Bourdain. And before that, I read a novel called “The Last Child” by John Hart. It was pretty incredible. My dad and sister read it and passed it along to Reckner and me. We both devoured it. Next up, I’m going to read a book my father-in-law stumbled upon in a used bookstore in Wilmington called “The Carolina Waterman”, which discusses the history of some of the southeastern North Carolina counties that I visited a lot growing up.
As I mentioned last week, I received an e-mail from a reader asking me to list out my five favorite bands (in order). This was a daunting, scary task. I spent some time over the weekend fleshing out the list. I’d imagine you are going to be shocked by some on the list. However, this list adequately shows the wide range of tunes that I listen to.
Q. Nation’s best barbecue – Kansas City or North Carolina?
I think Kansas City has more variety, but if I had only one last barbecue meal to eat, it would be in North Carolina, whole hog. It’s pristine, you don’t have the sticky sauce and it’s probably the original barbecue, or close to it.
Recently, I got an e-mail asking me to do a top 5 list one week with my favorite bands (I’m assuming of all time). I’ve got to be honest, this is a frightening thought. It’s frightening for a few reasons; primarily, that my list of favorite bands tends to change quite often. However, I am planning on giving this much thought over the coming days. Next week, I will publish a list of my five favorite bands — in order.
This also got me to thinking — if there are any other top 5 lists you’d like to see let me know.
